The “Tory Experience”

To Whom It May Concern:
Re: Customer Service at the Gap

I am absolutely glowing after shopping at the Gap at Chinook Centre on Friday, November 09, 2007 . The staff was incredible. Tory, Heather and a couple of other staff members (I’m sorry I couldn’t remember their names.) went above and beyond for all the customers at the Gap.

I had been at the mall for two hours already trying on clothes. I walked into Gap only planning on buying a pair of jeans for $40 and I came out spending $155. Everyone was so helpful, polite, professional, informative and kind. I went into the change room to try on some jeans and Heather helped me find a pair that fit fabulous. She helped me understand why style suited my body, what size I should wear and the different dyes in the jeans. She was so incredible, friendly and funny. She gave me a tip on where I should go to have my pants hemmed.

I was about to check out when I wandered past some shirts for sale. I decided to try them on in the fitting room. This time I had the TORY EXPERIENCE. Can I just say right now, that this man deserves a raise and you need to do everything you can in order to keep him. I’ve never, ever had a fitting room experience like this one. Wow! He introduced himself and showed me into a fitting room. He was so friendly, warm, charming and humorous.

After a few minutes, he knocked on the door and asked if I needed any help. I asked him what he thought of the shirt and if it was suppose to fit like it did on me. His eyes lit up and he explained in detail why I should go a size smaller. He was never negative and only spoke of the positives. He showed me where the shirt was too loose. He was so complimentary. He was very polite and professional. He asked if I minded that he touched the shirt so he could show me what he was talking about. He was so sweet and outgoing.

I am still blown away by his helpfulness and sincerity. It wasn’t just “Oooh ya, that looks good on you.” Like you hear most fitting room attendants say… Oh no… Not with Tory… With Tory it was “that looks amazing on your body because of this, this and this” or “Can I find you something that I think will look amazing on you?” or “I think this shirt will look even better because you have a hour glass figure.” Or “You really should flaunt your body, not hide it because you have a great body.” When he did bring me a shirt and I tried it on he gushed, “This shirt was made for your body type. This really accentuates your curves. You look gorgeous!” Or “Wow! I love that color on you!”

I think my head grew 10 times the size while I was in there. What really impressed me is that he told me the item of clothing looked good and then he followed up with WHY it made me look good. He would point out why something didn’t fit well and then go grab something that would look better.

I am very observant and can tell when someone is not being sincere with me. You can see the sincerity in Tory’s eyes, his voice and his face. He was very sincere when giving someone a compliment. I was there for a good hour trying on clothes and I listened to him talk to all the women that came through the fitting room. He was so charming, sweet, funny and incredible with all the women that came in regardless of their size or what they looked like. He helped each one of them find something that would suit their individual body type. Every single woman left that fitting room glowing after being in there with him for 5-10 min. “Thank you so much!” they would say as they left.

If more fitting room attendants were like Tory, women would be lining up and spending hundreds if not thousands in the store for that kind of service and attention.

As I was checking out, he came up to me and thanked me for shopping. When I thanked him back he told me “it was a pleasure.” WOW…I am awed by his professional, informative and sincere behavior. Tory has the entire package in a great employee and has excellent customer service skills. He has the looks, the body, the fashion sense and the personality that make him indispensable. He should be training the staff on how to treat customers in a fitting room. I think your sales will sky rocket.

Thank you for a shopping trip that I will remember for a long time to come. I will definitely be back to shop at the Gap and I will tell everyone I know to go to the Gap in Chinook in Calgary for the great clothes and to have the Tory Experience in the fitting room. Thank you Tory! You made my year!

Sincerely,
me

This is the letter I sent to Gap to show my appreciation of Tory. He kicks serious ass! I’d LOVE to have him as a personal shopper. I told him that too… I gushed on about him while I was there telling him that his wife was very lucky, that he was so nice and blah, blah, blah. I made him blush. It was cute. He’s so sweet and cute… like ‘ooohhh puppy dog cute’ ya know? He wasn’t like Tom Welling hot… like the holy hell I want to grab you, haul you into this change room, rip off your clothes and have my way with you… but he was cute, so sincere and so sweet.

I had the best time at Chinook all by myself. Holly hell.. I need to go out on my own more! I loved not being harassed all night by, “Can w go now? Are you finished yet? Another store? The movie is starting soon. I just want to go. Is this the last store? sure, it looks good, just get it so we can go. ”

That’s what the hubs says when I want to go shopping. It’s so frustrating… so I wandered the mall looking for a Christmas dress
but couldn’t find anything that didn’t make me look like I belonged on the corner of 3 & 4th.

So finally I wandered into Gap… I’ve never ever been in a fitting room and been that doted on in my life. The guy was amazing. The most sweetest, professional, smart, great fashion sense, amazing guy worked in the fitting room! I thought he was gay for awhile but WOW…. his wife is so lucky! I was trying on a pair of size 4 jeans… they said it was way too baggy, so I got into a 2, they said it was still a little too big… So I got a pair of size 1’s that fit awesome!

I’m still blown away by his helpfulness and compliments… “you have a gorgeous figure. You really have an amazing body.” and
blah, blah, blah… Holy hell… just the constant compliments… Wow! But it wasn’t just, “You look gorgeous, he was pointing out why something fit well or why something didn’t fit good. I knew he wasn’t hitting on me either, he was so nice and sweet to ALL the women no matter what their size.

I talked to the manager and told her to give him a raise. All the women were just glowing after being in there with him for 5 min. I spent 1 1/2 in the change room while he gave me outfit after outfit to try on. Seriously… if more people were like that… Women would spend $10000 in a store. What really baffled me was that he was sincere… really sincere. I can totally tell when someone is just giving me a line and oh my gosh. I was putty in his hands. Wow…

LOL… i think the next time I feel down or feeling like crap about myself, I’m just going to go shopping when that guy works there. I’m just going to call up and ask for him. I asked him if he would come Christmas dress shopping with me cuz he has such a great sense of style. Seriously, I think I’ll call up and offer him $50 to go with me for a couple hours to try on dresses. I just want him to go shopping with me to help me find clothes. I have a hard time shopping because I just never know if something is fitting right. I do know what looks good, but it’s always hard to find things for me cuz usually all the stuff that are size 4 or 2 are gone.

Can I just say that I LOVE my Gap long and lean jeans! I’m still in shock that I fit a size 1. They fit perfect. I thought I was a size 4 or 2. Hmmm… well, I’m glad I’ve gotten back down to my high school size before having 5 kids. I’m so pumped! Next goal… cute lil abs.
