The Incredible Hulk review and sitting beside Nacho Libre…

Kick ASS! Go see it! It will rock your socks off. I loved it. I loved the explosions, the boom, bang, bing, bop, blam, blood, fire, more booming, fists flying, smashing, buildings breaking, bombs, guns and rat-ta-ta-tat of the machine guns… Golly! So, so, so fabulous. Edward Norton does a wonderful job portraying the Hulk and I love Liv Tyler. I just love her lips. They are so kissable and full. It was just a fun, action packed, summer popcorn mind numbing flick which is what I needed.

Ryan wanted to take Josh out and I was like, ‘I’ve had the day from HELL and I need to go out! There’s NO WAY I’m staying behind.” So I grabbed a sitter, took Laura and we headed off on our strange night. I don’t know why everywhere I go, things just always seem to happen. I think chaos just follows me.

So we get in the van and a bottle of Luke’s must be slowly rotting somewhere cuz it smelled like rotting meat carcass mixed with sour milk. So disgusting. We had to take the freakn’ van cuz Ryan was picking up the new lawnmower, which I hope will mean he’ll mow the law more than 2 times a year. Right now our lawn is as tall as our 23 month old terror Luke. So we roll down the windows cuz we don’t have time to find the source of this horrid smell cuz we’ve only got 40 min. till the store closes with a 25 min drive ahead of us. Off we go driving around like dogs sticking our heads out the window for fresh air.

We pick up the lawnmower which takes up 1/2 the van, then head over to Chinook Centre to see a movie. We were trying to decide on what we would see: Iron Man, The Hulk, Prince Caspian: Narnia part 2 or Indiana Jones. Now I’ve already Seen IJ and it’s ok, but not one I’d pay to see again. Ryan had already seen Iron Man and I’m not all that interested in paying to see Narnia Part 2. I’ll wait till I can see it for free at my theatre. So I convinced everyone of the wonderfulness of The Incredible Hulk.

We grabbed our tickets which we got for free, cuz I’ve always got the hook up on free stuff. Ryan and I split up. He did bathroom runs with Josh and grabbed the treats. Laura and I went to stand in line and grab seats. We walk towards a huge line up, this is an hour before the show starts.

Laura looks at the people waiting and snarks, “geez, look at them standing there waiting for their movie. That sucks. What are they waiting for?”

“Well, we get to be the lucky ones that are at the very END of this long, long line up. They are here to see our movie.”
“Oh. All of them?”
“Ya, except for about 20 of those guys cuz they are just there because they think standing in lines are fun. So they just go from line up to line up standing in line just for fun. You should try it some time… oh wait… here’s your big chance… can you feel the excitement?”
She just gives me the “mom you’re a dork” look and laughs.

We stand in front of these 2 guys who instantly start including us in their conversations and butting into our conversations. They were hilarious and the one guy was cute so I tolerated it and played along. It was a blast and we had a great time talking and joking around.

A snippet of their conversation.
Cute guy to his chubby friend. Dead panning this line: ok, this time you are not allowed to hold my hand. I know you were really freaked out when we went to see Iron Man, but you have to stop grabbing my hand. I’ve had enough.

Chubs. Without missing a beat retorts in a deadpan voice: Well, I’ll try not to but I might not be able to resist if it gets a little scary. Maybe I can just hold your hand for the first 1/2?

They bantered in this way back and for forth a good 5 minutes and Laura and I were just dying laughing.

They start making fun of all the girls lined up to see ‘Sex and the City’ and how men who go to see that show is just a bunch of pansies. I laughed and said, ‘no, they are not, they are just whipped and they hope that if they see that chick flick then their girl will be all happy and they’ll get some tail later that night.’

The conversation was flowing great until Ryan showed up, then they just turned around and didn’t say much after that. Geez, seriously, what’s wrong with guys? Why do they do that? It’s stupid.

It drives me crazy to have to stand in line for so long without being entertained, so I went to exchange the Nibs for Peanut M&M’s. Ryan was retarded and had another brain freeze moment when got me Nibs. I specifically asked for Peanut M&M’s. I just looked at him and shook my head. He’s known me now for 15 years and he knows I HATE Nibs. I think they are the grossest candy ever and I won’t even touch them. I swear, he never pays attention to me. He’s so oblivious to me. The fact that he can walk upright amazes me some days.

Now before I left I gave Ryan specific instructions.
“Ok, now if I don’t get back before the movie gets in, make sure you get good seats. You know where I like to sit, so please make sure you get as close to there as possible.”

I usually like to sit around middle or 7 rows up from the 2nd section. This way you get the big screen, but it’s not too big where you’re craning your neck and it’s not too far away where you just feel like you’re at home with a bunch of people in your house.

So, after making sure he heard me and understood what I said off I went to go stand in another line, but this time I had a TV to watch.

I make the exchange then go back. The movie is JUST letting everyone in. Dang. So now I have to wait for everyone to go in cuz they won’t let you butt in line even though you were with someone. The theatre is packed by the time I get in, but I know we would have gotten good seats cuz we were about 30 back and this theatre sat around 190. So I look, I look and I look. Finally after looking in the section they SHOULD be in I begin to think maybe I’m in the wrong theatre because I know he understood my specific instructions. So I walk out to check my theatre number with my ticket. Nope, it’s right. *sigh* I call Ryan.

’so, where are ya?’ I ask.
‘oh, ya. We’re at the very top. 2nd from the top by the left stairs.’
So I think to myself maybe it was packed and we were further back than I originally thought.
After the long trek to the back of the theatre I look at him and glare.
‘What’s with the seats? You know I hate sitting back here!” I hiss.
‘Well, we were sitting where we normally sit, but then Laura wanted to sit up at the back. So we moved.”
ACK!
I just look at Laura and she gives me her biggest grin.
“The best seats are at the back mom.” She chimes in. “Oh ya and the guy you’re sitting beside has got like an afro.” Then she laughs.
I just look at Ryan and say, “Ya know. You CAN say, ‘no’ to them. I hate sitting back here.”
He just shrugs and begins to babble an explanation but I stopped listening and survey the damage from the nose bleed section.

My mind wanders to the comment Laura made about the afro guy and I thought, ‘he better not be an ass cuz I’ll be even more annoyed. Laura is sitting on the outside, then Ryan, then Josh, then me and next to me the empty seat which supposedly ‘afro man sits in.

All of a sudden out of the corner of my eye I see Nacho Libre come walking up the stares. He’s got a baggy white stained, dirty shirt with black dirty sweat pants covering his obese body. His hair is 1 foot in the air, unkempt, unwashed, with curls bouncing all over like they are trying to bounce off his head to escape from the grossness. Now when I say Nacho Libre I’m not kidding. He was a spitting image of Jack Black in that movie.

To my shock and horror he comes bumbling down our row. He sits down beside me in one big flump. He immediately takes up the arm rest and puts his bottle of coke in the holder. One second after that the smell hits me. He smelled like he had played in a pig pen then didn’t take a bath for a month. BO, sweat, stinky feet all came racing up my nostrils. I looked at Ryan and if looks could kill he was being stabbed by a million daggers. Laura starts laughing and Josh smirks.

I shake my head and hiss over at him, ‘you just had to move didn’t you?’
He gives me this deer in headlights look just oblivious to anything. He is happily munching away on his popcorn and sucking back his pop in sheer heaven. I feel like dumping it all on his head just to wipe off that satisfied grin on his face.

I sit closer to Josh and have recoiled my body into 1/2 the seat as far away from the Nacho Libre as possible. The smell is so unbearable that my eyes soon begin to water and I put my hand up to my face. I skooch over even closer to Josh with 1/2 my ass hanging off my seat. The lights go down and the previews start. Nacho is happily eating his popcorn very loudly and forgets to close his mouth as he chews. After every preview he does this weird laugh snort and says to himself in a crackled high pitched voice. ‘Oh ya, I’ll see that.’ or he just laughs in this chicken like squawk.

I hate when people talk in movies. HATE IT. Even the rustle of popcorn bags annoys me. I turn to glare at Ryan again. I lean over and hiss, “my eyes are watering he stinks so bad!”
“Oh, gee… Sorry hon. Do you want to switch seats? I’ll sit there I don’t mind.” Ryan offers. I should have taken him up on the offer.
“No! I just wished you would have stayed at the seats you originally had!” I didn’t want to move because I didn’t want the dude to feel bad about people getting up to move away from him. I was beginning to think he was special needs or an IOP (Idiot on Patrol) or something.

5 minutes into the movie with me partially holding my breath and practically sitting on Josh, Nacho takes out his bag of Twizzlers. ‘rustle, rustle, rustle.’ goes his plastic bag.
‘mmmm…’ Nacho says to himself. Then like a dog he takes the Twizzler and eats it like a bone while making these growling noises as he eats it. He would put the twizzler in his mouth length wise and shake it. Then growl as he devoured the twizzler. People behind me are snickering and I begin to look around to see if there is a hidden camera around that I’m not aware of. This is just too much.

Another 5 minutes pass and he grabs his bottle of coke and takes a swig. “BUURRRP.” OMFG! I’m gonna kill this guy. I turn to look at him, but he is just oblivious and happily digging into this popcorn bag. ‘Crunch, crunch, crinkle, crinkle, mmmmm… mmmm…’

I was losing my mind. Then he starts to talk and make comments about the movie.
‘Oh that’s funny.’ He’d say in a his squeaky thinly high chicken like voice. ‘Oh good one!’ ‘ Hahaahaha, it’s right there.’ ‘uh oh, look out.’ ‘ooohhh now that’s a big gun.’ munch, munch, munch, grrrr… grrrr….’

My seat is shaking a bit and I look down. Both of his legs are shaking up and down really fast. I was just shaking my head. He must have some sort of mental issue cuz this guy was a total head case.

I try to concentrate on the movie and finally 1/2 way through his movie he is finished his twizzlers so the crinkling of the twizzler bag stops. Unfortunately it took him the entire movie to finishes his popcorn and coke. He burped happily each time he took a drink. I seriously felt like slapping him. It took a lot of will power not to lash out and hiss, ‘BE QUIET! STOP! JUST STOP & BE QUIET!!!!” *ugh*

So even though I had Nacho Libre sitting beside me and distracting me from the movie, I still thought that the movie had great action, special effects and a good storyline. I loved the cameo’s from Stan Lee and the original Hulk, Bill Bixby.

The Last Kiss

I rented this at good ole’ BB after seeing the previews. Now, let me just say… I HATE chick flicks… they are not my thing. For me a movie has to have lots of action or a really good drama. I really liked this movie… well everything except for the horrible and repulsive sex scenes… I listened to the DVD commentary and the director makes a remark about how the sex scenes were tastefully done…oh SOOO UNTRUE… I thought they were gratuitous insult to the viewer. You know I don’t have anything against sex scenes in movies, but I think less is more. For example… In “The Bourne Identity” the scene with Bourne and his girlfriend in the bathroom. Starts off innocently and very naturally, then continues to the bedroom, Matt’s shirt comes off, but instead of checking out the fancy moves Matt has, the camera pulls back and fades to black. THAT is something that is tastefully done because it tantalizes you, gives you a little, then leaves it up to your imagination to take it as far as you want it to go. THAT is what tastefully done is people. If I wanted to watch a full on sex show I’d go to the porn shop.

Sex scenes aside this movie was good. Maybe cuz I am 32 this movie does home and I understand it. I feel like I am constantly surrounded by people getting divorced, separating, having affairs and questioning, “am I with the right person?” More than 50% of people are getting divorced these days. More and more couples that actually stay together are a minority. It is such a sad state. It’s so easy to think that you’d be better off, but a lot of times I think people don’t push through their problems. Instead of trying to overcome their problems and fight for their marriage, at the slightest bit of resistance or opposition they run the other way.

I liked the lecture the dad gave to Zach Braff’s character about how there is not just one brunette. There will be several brunettes over the course of his lifetime to tempt him away, but he has to choose to remain faithful everyday. That’s a loose interpretation, but it was something along those lines… That is so true. Marriage is hard work. I also liked what her mother says to her, “you have no idea what goes into a 30 year marriage.” Too true… I’m at 10 years and it has been very hard. Yes, there has been good times, but also lots of sad troubling times. I too could have walked away and gotten a divorce. I would have had a good justification in the world’s eyes. I chose to stay and work it out. We are stronger now than we were 7 years ago or even 5 years ago.

That whole “happily ever after” bit is not true at the end of fairy tale books. It should read, “it was the best of times, it was the worst of times.” There needs to be open communication. loyalty, fidelity, trust and a good friendship established in order for a marriage to survive in this day and age.

Jacinda Barrett was amazing in this movie! Her emotion was raw and gave me chills. I didn’t cry, but I did sympathize. It’s a video rental and worth a look.

Wentworth in The Human Stain…

Twas the night before Ryan came home when, when all through the house (only 1 more day of freedom from the ball and chain!)
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse (thanks to mouse poison)
The children were nestled all snug in their beds, (it’s about time!)
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads. (as long as they stay sleeping I’m happy)

Alright… enough of that..

I finally decided to sit down and watch the Human Stain I rented from Blockbuster over the weekend. It was 10pm and for some reason I had the munchies. I was craving Lays potato chips - the sea salt and pepper kind… now I don’t know WHAT is wrong with me cuz I HATE chips. I usually only eat 3 then I’m done… I couldn’t kick the craving, it was gnawing at me badly so I gave in… I bounced over to Shoppers Drug Mart (all other stores are closed in this blasted town) to pick some up and of course they didn’t have any “Lays” brand. They had other brands… but not the same. True to form, I only ate 3 then put down the bag. Yuck. Chips just make me feel gross. I’m sooo not a savory type person… just a crazy sweet tooth.

After indulging in my craving and taking 3 bites, I was glad that it was over… I could now move on to the good stuff! I snuggled up in the theater room with the featherbed, some Hot Tamales and a kit kat bar. Nothing like having something hot and sweet! My method of attack? First pop a hot tamale in your mouth, chew a couple of times, then chase it with 1/2 a kit kat bar, let the flavors dance around on your taste buds… so yummy. I love the chewiness of it all… It’s all good.

I didn’t have any expectations of this movie. I didn’t really know what it was about, just knew that Wentworth was in it. I was really impressed with Miller’s portrayal of Young Coleman Silk. HE was impressive! The anguish on his face and the minor facial fluctuations were amazing. I can always tell when an actor is “faking it” … when they are not into their character and just saying the words, but WOW!!! Wentworth totally nailed his character. I’m not being biased just cuz I like PB or WM. I would rake him over the coals in a second if I didn’t like it. I watched him very carefully and he was so good at showing the range in emotion needed for this character. He was the only good thing about the movie. He definitely stole the show!

I thought the movie could have been better. It had great potential, but unfortunately I felt that it was all over the place. If they would have written a script that would have dealt more with Young Coleman’s issues of being black and concentrated on that then it would have been good. The writer just had too many plots going and didn’t piece them together very well. I really didn’t care for the sex scenes with Anthony Hopkins and Nicole Kidman. That’s an image that needs to be forgotten. I didn’t need to see naked Jacinda Barrett or Nicole. I just don’t feel nudity is necessary for that film… I think when people say the sex scenes and nudity are “tastefully done” they are not. The majority of nude scenes could have been avoided. Jacinda looks better as a brunette. I don’t like her as a blond. She did a good job with her character though.

I wanted to see more scenes with Wentworth. Those were all fantastic. Everything else about the movie sucked raw eggs to be blunt. One of the last scenes in the movie with Wentworth and his mother made me tear up… that is huge since I don’t cry. It was very touching and very sad. This movie really had potential to be amazing. Wentworth really did his job, too bad the script was so weak on everyone else’s part.

Spiderman 3 Sucks Rotten Bananas

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

I’ve been lazy with my movie reviews, but I just HAD to say something about this movie.

IT SUCKS!!! It’s not worth paying $11 or $13 to go see. It’s a video rental. It’s waaay to long. I was looking at my watch 3/4 of the way into it thinking, “When is it going to end?!?” It needed to be edited better.

The special effects were good. The end sequence of the big battle was great. Although when Spiderman is fighting with Goblin’s son the background didn’t seem real. But I can forgive that because it’s a movie based on a comic book.

The story starts off really good, then somewhere in the middle it just loses its way. It turns into this stupid soap opera. I was shaking my head during the movie thinking, “Oh they’re not serious?!? Oh NO!” I turned to friends in the theatre to see if it was just me that was thinking this was retarded and our friend Guy had his hands over his eyes shaking his head in disbelief.

So it’s not just me that thought this movie sucked. Our whole row was just shaking its head or staring at the screen with a ‘WTF!?!’ look on their face. It’s sad to see that a great movie franchise would sink this low.

They need to keep that mask on Tobey McGuire. Why they keep on riping it off is beyond me. It’s just retarded. Just keep his stupid mask on. Tobey needs to be behind a mask, he’s not Tom Welling! Tobey Dancing and acting all hip was just too much. I know they were trying to achieve a difference in the way the Venom symbiote made Peter feel, but they went at it all the wrong way. It was terrible. I felt like scooping my eyes out with a spoon and throwing it at the screen. I was embarrassed for Tobey/Peter. It was also too forced when he played that part. The acting just didn’t cut it.

The sappiness just made me want to scream, “I DON’T CARE!!! SHOW ME A GOOD FIGHT, IT’S WHAT I CAME TO SEE!!!”
The whole, “I forgive you, I forgive you” line just made me groan. Horrible. Absolutely horrible.

The script writer sucks. He destroyed what could have been an amazing movie. It had potential… it really did, unfortunately they hired the wrong writer and wrong movie editor.

When the movie ended, Guy covered his head in his jacket and said, “I’m embarrassed to be seen here at this movie.”

I totally understood his feelings. I want my money back, I want the 2 hours and 20 minutes of my life back… and I’ll never get it back.

The next weekend, we had free movie coupons from the cereal boxes so we took the kids. I made Ryan sit through it with them while I went shopping. All 4 of them loved the movie and I loved the fact that I didn’t have to sit through that horrible movie again. AND I’m NOT buying it on DVD.

Ryan and I went out on December 27 to dinner and a movie. We went to the Keg. I think I like the Keg now. I had the Oscar steak with scallops, shrimp, asparagus with a Bernaise sauce. It was so good. We then went to see Casino Royal. The new James Bond movie. WOW! It was so good!

The best James Bond movie I have ever seen! The action was excellent and amazing. Fast paced and fun! The actor that played 007 was not good looking, but he was a good actor and the movie moved along very well. I loved it! It wasn’t campy or cheesy at all. I’m going to buy the DVD once it comes out. 5 out of 5.

Superman Returns - My movie review

This movie was ok. Just a movie rental. Nothing special. The only thing good about this movie was Kevin Spacey. He is an incredible actor and was fabulous playing Lex Luthor. The bullet shot was a great special effect as well. I didn’t mind Kate Bosworth as Lois Lane. She could have been a little more harder and edgy. She was a little too soft. *Spoilers below*

The Lex Luthor story line was fantastic. The superman love interest story line was poor. Superman knocks up Lois Lane??!!?? Oh come on! What the heck was up with the lovey dovey scenes? That just made me want to gag. Superman has a kid? *sigh* It’s like the writers couldn’t figure out what to do. This to me was a video rental. The Smallville premiere for Zod was WAY better than this movie.

The thing that ruined it for me was Brandon Routh. I hated Brandon Routh as superman. Quite frankly he sucked… he doesn’t look like Superman. He looks like a gay superman. Christoper Reeve is Superman, Tom Welling is Superman. All those 2 men look and act like Superman. Routh doesn’t. I was so annoyed by Routh that I couldn’t get into the movie. I was so disappointed in this movie.

The acting was terrible by all the main characters except for Kevin Spacey. All the actors bugged me with their horrible acting ability. Parker Posey who played Kitty, Lex Luthor’s girl is a terrible actress. She was extremely irritating to watch and listen to. If Lex Luthor is so smart, one would think that he would surround himself with people that are smart, not a bumbling nitwit for a girlfriend. Routh could use a few acting lessons himself. The scenes that were a good concept on paper were ruined by adding Routh in. He made them be corny. Routh has no emotion to his face. Tom Welling would do way better in those scenes.

Give Superman’s kid a haircut! The kid’s hair bugged me.

I think if they casted better for Superman the show would be much more enjoyable. I like action movies, but this one is not one that I enjoyed. Ryan on the other hand loved it. A lot of my friends went to see it and loved it. Me? I thought it could have been waaaay better. Less lovey dovey story line, more action, better casting.

The Breakup - my movie review

It’s a Video Rental. It’s ok. All the funny stuff was in the tv spots/commercials for the movie. Nothing special, just another sappy chick movie. That and I don’t find Vince Vaughan attractive at all. Sorry, I just don’t.

I could relate to the movie though. Some of the things they were fighting about and saying were things that I’ve said before. While Ryan and I were watching it, I turned to him and said, “See? Everybody has the same squabbles, it’s not just me. I’m not the only crazy woman out there… we’re ALL the same or else they wouldn’t have made a movie about it. So get your ass out there and buy me some flowers damnit! And do it cuz you WANT to not cuz I’ve ASKED you to!!!”

The Longest Yard

BEWARE OF SPOILERS!

I’m not a football fan because I find it very boring and sllllooooooowwww. I really like Adam Sandler and Chris Rock so I picked up the movie. I was surprised. I really, really liked this one. It’s a mindless, predictable movie, but it will make you laugh. Chris rock is on the ball and he really was my favorite part. The man is hilarious!

Adam Sandler, an ex-football player, gets thrown into jail after he gets arrested for a DUI and crashing his girlfriends car into a few police cars during a high speed chase. He forms a football team in jail to play against the prison guards. Hilarity ensues as he tries to find football players and get them ready for the big game.

I was rolling my eyes at some of the jokes, but for the most part, this movie is a great ride. Adam Sandler and Chris Rock do a great job. The other actors and characters are quite funny! The guy constantly pulling our McDonald’s cheeseburgers from underneath his clothing, the prison guard that gets weepy because of a steroid to estrogen pill switch and the transvestite cheerleaders are good for a few chuckles. There’s so many quirky, weird, odd, funny characters that make up the team it’s worth the rental to watch all the craziness.

Thankfully the football was just the highlights of the game. Now if football was like this on TV, I’d watch. It was fast, showed all the highlights, the tackles, passes and touchdowns. Fantastic. That’s my kind of football.

Good for a laugh, if you’re in the mood to laugh at stupid jokes. I was a smooch annoyed when Chris Rock died cuz the movie didn’t seem that funny after that. He really shines in this show.

I’m someone who hates sappy romance movies… I normally don’t rent these flicks. I like Ashton, so I had to take a look. It was ok. Nothing great, it’s a chick flick. Would I see it again? No. It really was quite average. It was cute, predictable but nothing to rave about.

Wait for it when it goes to favorites section at Blockbuster.

STUPID. Not even worth the rental. Don’t go see this one… Trust me! It was so boring and just dumb. Almost as bad as “Gerry.” Almost, but not quite… Gerry really sucked ass. I did feel like I wasted away my life on “Hitchhikers.” Time NOT well spent. It would be funner to pick your nose and examine it under a microscope.

NEVER rent this.

Sahara

I went into this movie hearing that it sucked. Well, I liked it! It is mindless summer fun. It’s funny and action packed. It revolves around a couple of ex-Navy Seal guys, Matthew McConaughey and Steve Zahn, who are treasure hunters. They are looking for a missing Civil War boat that carries rare Confederate gold coins. Along their way they meet Penelope Cruz a doctor who is researching a virus. They travel to Africa, encounter a warlord and an evil businessman. There is lots of great action, chase sequences and funny quips between the co-stars. I enjoyed the film, but the only thing that annoyed me is they had to put a romance between Penelope and Matthew…*sigh* why? It made me roll my eyes and want to vomit. Keep the cheesy romance out! They have no on-screen chemistry together!

3 out of 5 stars. A good video rental.

Wow. I went to see this movie last night and I really liked it. It is a story of a bunch of people from varying ethnic backgrounds, how they deal with stress and people around them. It was very interesting. It’s a tale of self discovery, tolerance and miscommunication. It shows how people, no matter who they are or what race they are from, just wants to be loved and accepted. It was great to see people’s different perspectives on life and how they react to things the way they did and why they reacted in that manner. Excellent performance by all actors and actresses. Just a fabulous movie. I’ll definitely see it again. I was kind of a bit bored, cuz I’m an action girl, but it is worth the sit through. It will make you laugh and cry, but most of all it will make you think after you’ve seen the movie. It’s a must see. 4 out of 5.

Sin City

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

This is a very gritty, raw movie. It’s very graphic, lots of violence, lots of ta-ta’s and ass. Visually it was amazing. I loved the black and white colors of this movie. I really liked how they highlighted certain colors like red to draw your attention. I liked how all the characters connected towards the end and how the story lines tied in together. I liked it a lot. I liked the story lines that were developed throughout the movie.

The actors seemed to be a perfect fit for their roles. I really don’t like Brittany Murphy or Jessica Alba and don’t think they are good actresses. They seem to deliver their lines forced and it’s almost comedic to watch them try to do sultry. The male actors nailed their parts. Mickey Rourke was fabulous to watch. Clive Owen could have done a bit better acting as some of his parts seemed campy and seemed fake. Bruce Willis was Bruce Willis. Typical performance out of him.

It’s a comic book and going into this movie I thought it was going to be stupid and suck. I was surprised. It was interesting. There were parts that were sickening and disgusting, but I couldn’t look away. I was hooked. All in all I enjoyed it. If you’re an anal retentive Mormon don’t go see it. I would pay to go see this in the theatre. I would also watch it again one more time. 4 out of 5 Stars.

Seann Williams Scott - Bo Duke
Jessica Simpson - Daisy Duke
Willie Nelson - Uncle Jesse
Boss Hogg - Burt Reyolds

The story revolves around Burt Reynolds who plays Boss Hogg. He is having farms seized for trumped up reasons. He seizes Uncle Jesse’s farm and the Duke boys try to figure out what Boss Hogg is up to.

I am someone who as never seen the actual TV show.. why not? cuz I grew up under a rock in the middle of no where, that’s why.

To me this is a video rental. It is a fun ride and it’s a mindless summer fun. I LOVED the car chases, races and jumps. I found the comedy to be forced and weak. It could have been better. It had funny parts, I laughed, but the movie was just ok.

Ryan loved it. He watched the show as a kid and said it was just like watching a long episode except the Sheriff and Amos were a lot smarter in the movie than they were on the show. Daisy Duke was also a lot more provocative in the movie. Wow… Jessica Simpson is definitely sexy in this movie. If I was a lesbian I’d go for her. She’s hot.

The Fantastic Flop

Filed under: July 2005, Movie Reviews

Yep, I went to see The Fantastic 4 on Friday. My opinion. Wait for it on DVD. It’s a video rental. Not worth the price of movie admission, popcorn and drinks. It was boring. They tried really hard but the movie didn’t do it for me. There was no point to the story. It had some cool special effects, but 15 minutes into the movie I was feeling restless and bored. I was checking out the head below me (I love stadium seating in theatres) and I was tempted to start tossing some popcorn around to see if I could hit people in the head 6 rows ahead of me.

40 minutes into the movie a couple actually walked out of the movie and never came back - probably due to boredom. Heck, I’d have a better time watching the popcorn pop out of the popcorn machine than having to sit and watch this show.

The Human Torch was funny, but his acting seemed forced and so did the comedy that he spewed from his mouth.

The Invisible Woman - Jessica Alba- she just had no chemistry with either Von Doom or with Mr. Fantasic. She needs to work on her acting skills as well. Just cuz she’s cute doesn’t mean she’s good at acting. Go take some classes chickita.

Mr. Fantastic he was ok. He needs a few brush up acting classes on making the character seem natural and real.

The Thing was good. The actor does a good job on this character and his acting is good in this film. Way better than the other 4 main characters in this movie.

The actor who plays Von Doom. I just don’t think he’s that great of an actor either. He seems too forced and it doesn’t come off naturally. He tried to play evil, but I almost started to laugh when he would throw an evil look. Back to acting classes for you too Mr. I just didn’t get the character either. I just didn’t understand why he was in such a big huff over the Fantastic 4. So Mr. Fantastic is hitting on your girl. Get a personality and maybe she just might like you. So the space trip killed your company, you should’ve thought it through a little better oh smart one. The character just wasn’t well written or well acted.

There were some funny parts, but I was the only one laughing. Either no one else got the joke or they had fallen asleep. Probably the latter.

The other thing that made me annoyed was that Ben Mulroney got a part in this show as a reporter. I can’t stand the guy. He annoys the livin’ hell outta me. He’s right up there next to mosquitoes. I wish I could just squish him. He’s just got a face that I feel like slapping. I think I hate his dad Brian Mulroney so much for introducing the damn GST that I therefore hate all family members. The guy just rubs me the wrong way and anytime I see him on TV I change the channel. He’s annoying to watch and to listen to.

This movie had potential. It really did. I was really looking forward to going to this show and getting to know the characters. However, the casting and writing needs lots of work. Less blah, blah, blah and more action would’ve been much better.
